How to Configure Firewall for "Outlook Messenger" on Norton Antivirus 2005

If you are installing the Outlook Messenger on a machine with Norton Antivirus 2005, we recommend to configure the Firewall settings inorder to run Outlook Messenger in your network, as described below.

Firewall Configuration

1.Run Norton Antivirus 2005

2.Click Options in Main Screen

3.In Options Form, Internet Tab, Click Internet Worm Protection

4.Click General Rules button. Internet Worm Protection screen opens.

5.Click Add and Add Rule screen appears.

In the Add Rule screen,

A. Select option Permit,Click Next

B. Select option Any computer,Click Next

C. select option TCP and UDP and Select option Only the types of communication or ports listed below

D. Click Add , then Specify Ports screen appears,

i. select option Individually specified ports
ii. select option Remote
iii. Enter the port number as 14110 and click OK

E. Click 'Next' and 'Next' then

F. Provide "OutlookMessenger Exception Rule" in the textbox to identify,Click 'Next'

G. Click 'Finish'
