How to Configure Windows Firewall for Outlook Messenger on Windows XP Service Pack (SP2)

If you are installing the Outlook Messenger on a machine with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (or if you are upgrading an existing Windows XP to SP2), you have to configure the Windows Firewall settings inorder to run Outlook Messenger in LAN computer, as described below.

Windows Firewall Configuration

1. Open Windows Firewall if it is not open:
       a) Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
       b) Click Security Center.
       c) Select Windows Firewall.

2. Select the Exceptions tab.

3. Click Add Program Button.

4. Browse to the Outlook Messenger application and click OK to close the window. Please make Sure Outlook Messenger is Checked in Exceptions List.


5. Click OK to close the Windows Firewall window.

6. Close Windows Security Center.

Now the Outlook Messenger is ready to use in LAN in your computer.

Important Note: Follow the Step 1 to 6 in all the network computers inorder to run Outlook Messenger successfully.
