Trouble Shoot
1.Users List :

  • Online Users displaying Offline ?
  • Users shown as Offline after 30 minutes ?,
  • Able to send message, but unable to receive it ?
2.Voice Chat :Getting Error "Failed to initialize voice compression manager" ?
3.Chat : My Chat message reaches a wrong user. Why?
4.Chat : New Chat windows always minimized to tray instead of popup. Why?
5.Terminal Service: When TS users are idle or minimize the Terminal window, it makes them go “offline”. Why?
6.Outlook Plug in : Outlook Messenger tool bar not added in my Microsoft Outlook. Why?

Requirements & Installation

1. What are the minimum requirements?

Outlook Messenger is a Cross Platform LAN communication tool. Outlook Messenger will work in Windows 9X, NT, ME, XP, 2003, Vista, MAC & Linux. With or without Outlook 2000/2002(XP)/2003/2007 . No need for Internet Connection.


2. How to install Outlook Messenger?

Download Outlook Messenger Installer from here and save in your computer. Exit all applications for safe install. Need to run the Installer in all the Network computers (LAN/VPN Computers) you wish to use Outlook Messenger program. Recommend to install by Administrator on the computer.


3.What are the details to consider in First Outlook Messenger run?

In your very first run, you will be asked your Display Name, Group you wish to be l listed under & Gender. Also you will be asked to select your Network Adapter will be used by Outlook Messenger to communicate in the related network. Also make sure Firewall is not blocking Outlook Messenger.


4. How to add Users in my Outlook Messenger?

Outlook Messenger is smart enough to add users automatically who are using Outlook Messenger in your local network.
To display Sub network & VPN Network Outlook Messenger Users:
If you have multiple networks / Sub networks, Use Broadcast Tool. Click Here for further details.
If you have Virtual Private Network, Click Here



5.Can Outlook Messenger in Terminal Server / Citrix Environment?

Yes. For this, you need to install Terminal Service Tool in Server.
Then, in Outlook Messenger Settings > Network Tab > Select Terminal Service option for users running under Terminal Server.

6.What is Broadcast Tool? When I have to Use?

Broadcast tool is a support tool used for Sub networks / VPN. It helps to reduce network traffic for Sub networks Environment. For each network one computer should run the Broadcast tool service. Other network users should add the related broadcast IP address in Settings > User Tab. Same network user need not to add their same network broadcast tool IP address. Broadcast tool not needed for Single Network Users.

7. What is Terminal Service Tool?

Terminal Service tool helps Outlook Messenger to run in Terminal Server / Citrix environment. Need to install Terminal Service tool in the Server and Outlook Messenger instance running in the server should have.

8. Will Outlook Messenger work only when Microsoft Outlook is installed?

No. Outlook Messenger is standalone chat software. Outlook Messenger also contains Outlook Plug in as an option to share your Outlook Data to other LAN users.

1.Outlook Messenger is one time Pricing?


YES. You need to pay Outlook Messenger only once and get Life Time updates as free.


2.How many Licenses I need to Purchase (One Computer Per License or One User Per License)?

Outlook Messenger Licensing System is based on One User Per License basis. For 10 User License Key, 10 Users will be allowed to display online, irrespective of registering/using Outlook Messenger in any number of computers.


3.What are the payment modes available?

Online ordering payment options: Credit card, Bank / Wire Transfer, Check, Cash - Prepayment are provided by our Payment processors Share-it, Regnow & 2Checkout.com


4.When I will get the License Key?

The License key will be delivered to you directly by our Payment Processor Share-it or Regnow usually within 24 Hours of payment.


5.How to Register Outlook Messenger in a Computer?

In Outlook Messenger, Users List, Information Tab > Click Register Link. You will have Registration Form, where you can provide Registration Details or use license Key from Other Users. If your Outlook Messenger Trial Period completed, you will have the Splash Screen with Register Link.


6.Any easy way to Register License key in all Network Computers?

Yes. Three ways to register in network computers.
1). While Registering your Outlook Messenger, you will be prompt whether to apply the same license key for all Outlook Messenger Online Users.
2). Also, having option in Registration Screen to use license key from other Registered user.
3). Using Admin Tool default installer file, we can embed the License key with installer.


7.Other than Trial Version any other version for Registered Users?

No. Outlook Messenger Trial Version has all the features and on applying the License Key it will be considered as Registered Version and will not expire.


8.Is it possible to upgrade my License pack in future?

Yes. You can upgrade to any license pack from your existing license. Upgrade Price will be rate difference between Old Pack & New Pack + Processing Fees $10 USD.
To Upgrade: In Outlook Messenger, Users List, Information Tab > Click "Upgrade Licenses" Link > Click "Purchase More Licenses" from Registration Form.


Configuration

1.How can I add a user in Outlook Messenger?

Outlook Messenger is smart enough to add users in your Network automatically. You are also having options to filter users displaying in Users List.


2.What are the configurations need to done for Outlook Messenger?

Firewall: First & most important is configuring Firewall, so that Outlook Messenger able to communicate with others in Network.
Microsoft Windows Firewall Users should add Outlook Messenger in the exception list.
Also for some firewalls need to open TCP/UDP port 14110 to 14115.

Assigning IP Address: Outlook Messenger use LAN IP Address for communication. In Settings > Network Tab, select the right Network Adapter to be used by Outlook Messenger. Also Either all system in LAN should can have Fixed IP Address assigned(recommended) OR all can have "Obtain an IP Address automatically".
Avoid having both Static & Dynamic IP Address in same network.
Adding IP Address / Range : IP Address & Range need to be added only when you want to link Sub network Users or VPN.
For a Single Network, no need to add range or IP Address. Same Network Users will be displayed automatically.



3.How to configure if we have Subnet work / Multiple Networks ?

There are two methods to include Subnet work or Other Network Users in your Outlook Messenger.

I) Using Broadcast Tool
- Need to install Broadcast tool in ONE System for each subnet work and start the Service.

- All users should add other network(s) Broadcast tool running System's IP Address in Settings > Users > Broadcast List.

- No need to add IP Address of same network Broadcast tool IP Address.

II) Using Subnet Range (Without using Broadcast Tool)

- Add Active IP Address range of OTHER networks in Settings > Users > Range

(Ex: 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.20, 192.168.3.10 to 192.168.3.50)

Adding Entire Range like 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.254 is not recommended, since it may affect the performance. Recommended to use Broadcast Tool for such cases.


4.How Outlook Messenger will work in Terminal Services & Citrix Environment ?

- Need to install Terminal Service Tool in Server & Start the service.
- Remote User Logged in to Terminal Server and Run Outlook Messenger
- In Settings > Network Tab, select "Use Terminal Service Tool" option
This settings need to be enabled only for Outlook Messenger running in Terminal Server.
Other Standalone Node users need not to enable this option.

5.Will Outlook Messenger work in VPN ?

Yes. Outlook Messenger will work in VPN
- Install Outlook Messenger in all VPN Users
- Connect to VPN
- In Settings > Network tab, move VPN Network Adapter as top, so that it will be used for communication.
- In Settings > Users Tab: Provide IPAddress range used by VPN.
(If your VPN has fixed IP Address setup, install Broadcast tool in a Server and just add that Broadcast IP Address instead of entire range)

6.Is it possible to change Smiley/Display icon in Outlook Messenger?

Right now it is not possible. Expected to add in upcoming versions.


7.How to protect users clearing the Log?

Simple:
1. Just lock the Log setting with a Password.
2. Using Admin Tool it can be viewed.

Complex :
1. Have a confidential/hidden folder for each user having Read/Write Permission.
Ex: \\Server\F\User1,\\Server\F\User2.
2. Assign this unique folder for each user log folder save path,
3. Lock the log setting with Password.
(On locking the path will be hidden in Settings)

Soon we will have centralized log storage.


8.What is the advantage of providing "Server Path" to save Offline Messages?

Usually Offline messages will be delivered to the Receiver, Only when the Sender Outlook Messenger is active. To overcome this, if users provide a common folder in server to save the offline messages, even Sender is offline, Receiver will read the message directly from the folder.


9.What are the ports used by Outlook Messenger?

TCP/UDP Ports: 14110 to 14115


10.Outlook Messenger has Multilanguage support ?

11.Desktop Sharing :

Is it possible to hide the small window stating that a user is accessing your desktop ?


No. Due to security reasons, we have not provided such option.


12.How to remove a user from offline Users List?

Just right click that offline user & click "Remove from offline Users" from the popup menu.
Trouble Shoot

1.Users List:
  • Online Users displaying Offline ?
  • Users shown as Offline after 30 minutes ?,

2.Voice Chat : Getting Error "Failed to initialize voice compression manager" ?

Make sure Codec installed in your Windows.
To add all the default codecs in Windows, follow these steps:

1.In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

2.On the Windows Setup tab, click Multimedia or Sounds and Multimedia, and then click Details.

3.Click the Audio Compression and Video Compression check boxes to select them, and then click OK.



3.Chat : My Chat message reaches a wrong user. Why?

Its due to having "Obtain IP Address Automatically" setting for some computers & static IP Address for other computers. It is recommended to have either all computers in Network have either Static IP Address or Dynamic Address. Not both.


4.Chat : New Chat windows always minimized to tray instead of popup. Why?

In Settings > Other Tab, make sure "Minimize new popup Chat Windows" option is not selected.


5.Terminal Service: When TS users are idle or minimize the Terminal window, it makes them go “offline”. Why?

In Windows, need to enable Keep Alive setting for Terminal Service Users, since when Idle, TS will be in disconnected state.

6.Outlook Plug in : Outlook Messenger tool bar not added in my Microsoft Outlook. Why?

In your Outlook Messenger Settings, make sure "Microsoft Outlook Plug in" option is selected.
If it is already Selected, Unselect it, Click Apply.
Then Again Select that option & click Ok.
For Outlook 2000,XP,2003 : You can also try by removing Outlook Messenger Plug in (Microsoft Outlook, Tools >> Options >> Other
>> Advanced Options >> COM Add-ins, Uncheck & Remove "Outlook Messenger") and then enable the Settings option again.
For Outlook 2007: Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins : GO Button > Uncheck & Remove and then enable the settings option again.


7.Registration : Although I have applied the license key, on restart Outlook Messenger asks for the License Key again ?

Due to security software or Windows Users rights, Outlook Messenger is not able to save the license key in registry.
It is recommended to register by Administrator of the Computer.


8.Uninstall : After Uninstall, Why Outlook Messenger still load at windows startup ?

You need to exit Outlook Messenger before uninstalling.


9.Uninstall : After Uninstall, While opening Microsoft Outlook, getting message "Error in starting Outlook messenger" ?

In Microsoft Outlook, Tools >> Options >> Other >> Advanced Options >> COM Add-ins, Uncheck & Remove "Outlook Messenger"
